Helpful Tips for Navigating our Website.

Hi Everyone - we have some administrative type information for you today! 

For those of you who are new to McNiven Farms - we thought it would be timely to run through some information about our website to make your ordering experience easier and hopefully less frustrating!  Below are some points that will help you understand our system and how we do things!

First though - we want to thank you for your business.  Although our family has been farming here since 1831, it is only in the last two years that we have started directly providing our products to our local community.  We are so thankful for your support and we have truly enjoyed meeting so many great people.  It warms my heart, to be able to hear your stories, share our common difficulties and have some great laughs.

Okay - on to the website!  Below are some tips and helpful information.

  • Our order deadline is 7 pm the night before your pickup day.  So if you want to pick up your order on Monday - you have to have your order in before 7 pm on Sunday night.  This gives us time to enter the actual weights, pack and send you the final totals.
  • When you order, your estimated total is just that - an estimate.  Each package of sausage, roast or steak weighs a different amount - when you first place your order, the website uses an estimated weight to give you an approximate total.  Then we take your order, pack it, enter the actual weights and send you an email with the final total.  This means that your final total will be different that what was estimated when you placed your order.  We have tried to use estimated weights that are on the high side, so that your actual total, in most cases, will be lower...this is how we would like it to be if it was us ordering!
  • Our pickup days are as follows - Monday between 3 pm and 6 pm, Thursdays between 1 pm and 3 pm and Saturdays between 10 am and Noon.
  • We accept cash and e-transfer to 
  • For larger egg orders, we can also provide your eggs on a "flat" rather than in a carton if you prefer.
  • If you are interested in changing your pickup time, or if you have missed the 7 pm deadline for order pick up the next day, there are a couple different ways to change your pickup date rather than waiting until next week.
  • First, you can click on "Account" located in the blue banner near the top right side of the screen, then choose "Edit my Account".  From here your default location will be listed and if you click "CHANGE" beside your location it will bring up our three options.
  • Second, when you sign in - near the top of the screen just below the blue banner you will see your default pickup location and in brackets beside it is the word CHANGE.  If you click the word "CHANGE", you will be prompted to enter your postal code and then a screen will appear that shows you the pickup locations (and days) available to you.
    • Finally, on the "checkout" page - you can also change your pickup location.  In the photo below, you will see the checkout page and your pickup location. Simply click on (CHANGE) and the options will appear for you to pick a new pickup day!
