Bacon Cheese Burgers and Ducks!
Are you exhausted when you get home from work? If the last thing you want to do is make supper, then I can help.
Here on the farm, summer is our busiest time, with all hands on deck from sun up to sunset. At the end of a long (usually rewarding) day, the last thing that I want to do is make another meal. So, I am always on the hunt for quick, easy and delicious meals - with an emphasis on easy! Barbecuing is my preferred method of summer cooking as the temperature starts to soar!
About 10 years ago, when a friend dropped by at suppertime, and I was scrounging around for something to feed everyone, she told me about the secret ingredient in her homemade burgers - Shake'n Bake. This simple ingredient really does a number on ground beef - add in some cheese and bacon (precooked and waiting in the freezer for you!) and presto, you have some mouth watering goodness in less than 30 mins.
To find this recipe - click here. I hope your family enjoys them as much as mine do!
Around the Farm
The garden continues to grow - we will have carrots, peas, beans, beets, watermelon, peppers, tomatoes, romaine lettuce and a plethora of cut flowers coming soon!
We have lots of meat inventory - striploins, tenderloins, roasts, sausage, pork chops and salami. We also have ground beef if you are interested in the recipe above. The packages (approximately 1 lb) are $6 or you can buy 10 packages for $55.
And the big news...we have two new additions to the farm. Buttercup and Pebbles (left to right) are Indian Runner ducks. We picked them up last week. They are about 2 weeks old. They are super cute and have provided endless hours of entertainment for our kids.
Like everything on the farm, they have a job - insect control in the garden. Although I am somewhat doubtful, that they will be able to resist eating the brightly coloured flowers - stay tuned. Enjoy the picture!
